[edit] About the release
iF 1.0.0 beta 5 is the next public beta release version of ikonForums, developed by the ikonForums Team. Beta 5 was released on 13th July 2007. The release is a beta designed for testing purposes only, however at time of release it is believed to be stable.
[edit] Notable features
- A new skin system redesigned from the ground up, and it's now possible to combine different image sets with different JavaScript with different html sets, all through the easy-to-use adminCP, making skinning easier than ever before.
- We've now implemented AJAX-style quick posting, so you don't have to refresh the page to post.
- In many places, the number of queries has been optimized to cut the load by about fifty percent.

[edit] Server requirements
During the initial development ikonForums has been tested using Perl version 5.8.7 and MySQL 5.2.0. From internal testing we so far tested also using lesser versions. At present we believe the following to be required...
- Perl: 5.6
- MySQL: 4.1
- ImageMagick / GD Library: not required but recommended.
[edit] Known issues
- Support for MySQL 4.0 is not provided, and as a result some aspects of the board do not function, this is due to support for sub-queries being introduced with MySQL 4.1.
- Some XHTML and CSS validation issues are being resolved.
